I-House Offers Free Meals to Residents from The Migrant Kitchen
In January 2021, International House announced that it would be providing residents with free meals from The Migrant Kitchen (TMK) two days per week. Every Tuesday and Thursday through mid-March, residents and onsite staff can order breakfast, lunch and dinner from TMK’s globally inspired menu at no cost. All meals are prepared from scratch using fresh, seasonal ingredients, with the dishes inspired by the diversity of TMK’s team.
In keeping with I-House’s COVID-protection measures, residents pick up their meals “to go” from the Dining Hall. From mid-March through the end of the academic year, TMK will provide meals for purchase three days per week.
Residents have been enjoying their complimentary meals and getting to know the TMK staff. On January 29, 2021, Migrant Kitchen co-founder Dan Dorado offered a Virtual Cooking Masterclass for residents, who cooked along with Dorado from their kitchens in I-House North (with all ingredients provided at no cost). I-House Alumni joined the Zoom call and cooked along with the residents. Dorado demonstrated how to prepare Cauliflower Shawarma and Tahini Sauce and discussed The Migrant Kitchen and his personal journey.
