Celebrating Global Culture at Fall Fiesta 2019
Each year, International House proudly presents Fall Fiesta, a decades-long tradition and one of the most anticipated events of the season. At this event, Residents from around the world share their talents in music, dance, spoken word and more in a vibrant stage show. All are encouraged to attend in dress evocative of their cultures and regions.
Fall Fiesta originated in the fall of 1964 as “The Fiesta of Folk Dance & Song,” conceived and produced by Herman Rottenberg, known as “HR” (yes, the same “HR” of the “HR Commons” study lounge). Rottenberg, beloved by I-House Residents and staff, began his association with the House in late 1963 by joining the staff as its Cultural Affairs Director at an annual salary of $1. Through a variety of creative programming, HR brought together diverse Residents and united them through the international language of music and dance.
Below, some scenes from the 2019 Fall Fiesta held in Davis Hall on Friday, November 1st.
