Directions
International House has two entrances: 500 Riverside Drive and 155 Claremont Avenue. All visitors must enter I-House through the entrance at 155 Claremont Avenue, which is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Our historic residence is close to public transportation and is accessible by car. For those driving to I-House, there are several parking lots near us.
By Car
Taxi or Car Service
Ask the driver to take you to 155 Claremont Avenue just north of 122nd Street.
From Mid-town Manhattan
Take 72nd Street west to Riverside Drive. Travel north on Riverside Drive past Riverside Church at 122nd Street. Turn right at 122nd Street. Turn left on Claremont Avenue. International House will be on the left side.
From Connecticut, Westchester, or New Jersey (via George Washington Bridge)
Take the Henry Hudson South to the 125th Street exit. At the bottom of the ramp, go straight for three blocks and make a left on St. Clair Place. Drive one block to the stop sign and make the first possible right onto Riverside Drive. Drive up the hill to Tiemann Place. Make a left onto Tiemann Place and continue one block to Claremont Avenue. Make a right on Claremont Avenue and continue to 155 Claremont; International House will be on the right-hand side.
By Public Transportation
Bus
The M4 and M104 buses stop at 122nd Street and Broadway. From there, walk west on 122nd Street and make a right at Claremont Avenue.
Subway
Take the 1 train to 125th Street. From there, walk south on Broadway to Tiemann Place. Turn right onto Tiemann Place and walk a half block to Claremont Avenue. Turn left onto Claremont and continue one block to 155 Claremont.

From JFK airport: $70 flat fare to anywhere in Manhattan

Public Transportation
From JFK Airport: (approximate time 1 hr 45 min)
- Take the Air Train toward Queens to Sutphin/Jamaica Station ($5 fare).
- From there, take the E train in the direction of Downtown (cost $2.75 for a single ride with free transfers) to 42nd St. stop.
- Transfer to the 1 train heading Uptown and get off at 125th Street.
- Exit the train station near Broadway & Tiemann Place (use the escalator).
- Turn right onto Tiemann Place and walk a half-block to Claremont Avenue. Continue one block to 155 Claremont Avenue; you will see a black “International House” awning.
From La Guardia Airport: (approximate time 1 hr 15 min)
- Take the M60 bus (cost $2.75 for a single ride with exact change required) heading to Morningside Heights
- Exit at Amsterdam Avenue and LaSalle Street. This stop will be just after the bus turns onto Amsterdam Avenue.
- Walk to LaSalle Street and turn right so that you are heading west.
- Walk west on LaSalle Street until you come to Claremont Avenue (2 blocks).
- Turn left and walk half a block to 155 Claremont; you will see a black “International House” awning.
From Newark Airport: (approximate time 1 hr 30 min)
- Take the Air Train (cost approximately $5.50) to Newark Airport Station.
- Then take NJ Transit Northeast Corridor Line to NYC-Penn Station (cost approximately $12.50).
- Then take the 1 train from 34th St-Penn Station in the direction of Uptown to 125th Street ($2.75 for a single ride).
- Exit the train station near Broadway & Tiemann Place (use the escalator).
- Turn right onto Tiemann Place and walk half a block to Claremont Avenue. Turn left onto Claremont and continue one block to 155 Claremont Avenue; you will see a black “International House” awning.
