Resident Ivan Gusev to Hold First Solo Concert at Carnegie Hall
Congratulations to International House Resident Ivan Gusev, who will appear at Carnegie Hall in his first solo performance on November 17, 2018. Ivan, born in Kazakhstan and a citizen of Russia, came to I-House in 2016. He is currently working toward a Master’s degree in Piano Performance at The New School Mannes School of Music. Previously, Ivan won first prize in the piano performance category in the 2017 George Gershwin International Music Competition. The annual competition offers international talents performance opportunities and aims to universalize George Gershwin’s extraordinary legacy around the world. The event features two weeks of performances and master classes and culminates with the competition Award Ceremony in New York. Along with monetary awards, finalists receive career management and marketing support, along with professional recording and performance opportunities at Carnegie Hall and other notable venues in the US and abroad. Earlier in 2017 Ivan was named winner of the Mannes Concerto Competition with the Grieg Piano Concerto and the Laureate and Winner of special prize for the best performance of 20 Century piece of New York Piano Competition. He was also a featured performer at the 2017 Fall Sunday Supper at International House, which welcomed Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
